The world’s first platform dedicated to resourcing leaders and communities of color.

Our Mission

HopeMob amplifies stories of hope from underrepresented communities and mobilizes collective action to meet critical needs. Guided values of equity, compassion, and restoration, we inspire transformation, foster dignity, and spark lasting hope through storytelling and unified response.

Why HopeMob?

Only 7% of nonprofits are directed by people of color, and only 18% of nonprofit employees are people of color.

This narrative must be changed and we can change it. HopeMob is like a trust. The HopeMob Advisory Board selects initiatives and campaigns to feature each funding cycle and funds from one time and/or recurring donors are dispersed accordingly.

By joining HopeMob, your contribution of $10 or more every month to help fund the rotation of projects the board has recommended as best dismantling injustice in communities of color.

Welcome to a new kind of mob, the HopeMob

About

Los Angeles is facing a series of devastating wildfires, notably the Palisades and Eaton fires, fueled by exceptionally strong Santa Ana winds reaching up to 100 mph. These conditions led to rapid fire spread, with the Palisades Fire alone scorching over 17,000 acres and becoming the most destructive in the city’s history, surpassing previous records with at least 1,000 structures destroyed.

The impact on the community has been profound. Thousands of residents were forced to evacuate, and the fires resulted in at least five fatalities. Significant landmarks, including the historic Will Rogers State Historic Park and several schools, suffered extensive damage or were completely destroyed. The entertainment industry was also affected, with numerous celebrities losing their homes and major events being postponed or canceled. The combination of severe drought conditions, unusually warm temperatures, and powerful winds created a catastrophic scenario, overwhelming firefighting efforts and leading to widespread devastation across the Los Angeles area.

About

Rosa Lee Harden and Kevin Jones, co-founders of SOCAP and Neighborhood Economics, have dedicated their lives to advancing economic justice through impact investing. Tragically, Hurricane Helene devastated their office and home in Swannanoa, a community highlighted by the New York Times and Washington Post for its catastrophic destruction. A three-foot surge of water wiped out their space, leaving them in urgent need of support to rebuild their lives and continue their vital work.

Now, more than ever, we have the opportunity to honor their legacy by supporting their mission and the underrepresented entrepreneurs in the Asheville area—many of whom have also lost everything. These entrepreneurs, critical to their communities, need resources to recover their businesses and rebuild their futures. Every dollar contributed will be matched to not only repair the Neighborhood Economics office but also directly invest in these entrepreneurs and the transformative work they lead. Through our partners at Pure Charity and Hope Mob, all contributions are tax deductible. Join us in rebuilding hope and repairing economies where it’s needed most.

I have seen hope in some of the hardest places around he world—places where you wouldn’t expect it to be so strong.

I’m driven to highlight hope. Hope found in a hopeless place is contagious. It’s pure and powerful.
